The Bank’s Mission

Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego was established in 1924. Currently, it is the onlystate-owned bank in Poland. Its mission is to efficiently andeffectively complete the activities commissioned by the state, as well as to set forth a competitive commercial offer designed for selected segments of the market. The main activities carried out by the Bank consist in, on the one hand, supporting governmental programmes directed to different groups of beneficiaries, and, on the other hand, providing professional banking services both to various entities of the financial sector and to businesses.

Products and Services

Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego actively participates in the implementation of the state’s economic objectives. One of the tasks entrusted to it by the state is the support of numerous funds and governmental programmes. As of 2010, the Bank has been statutorily designated to service financial operations connected with the European Union funds. The tasks assigned to BGK by the government are also conducted inareas such as housing construction, infrastructure, environmental protection, entrepreneurship andexport support. Inthis regard, the Bank applies various instruments, such as preferential loans, sureties and warranties. It also develops parallel banking services typical of commercial banks (maintenance of bank accounts,including electronic banking for institutional clients, loans and treasury products). Inorder to further improve the quality of customer service, BGK is expanding its transactional banking offer and provides comprehensive solutions connected with the financing of projects implemented using the European Union resources.

The Customers

The Bank’s Customers from within the area of its commissioned activities arethe beneficiaries of governmental programmes. They constitute avery broad anddiverse group encompassing businesses, local government entities and individual Clients.

In the sphere of commercial activity, BGK focuses on serving local government units and businesses, offering a full range of deposit and credit services (for commercial, economic and investment purposes).
